About Us

Revista de Economia Contemporânea (Journal of Contemporary Economics) publishes original papers on Economic Theory, Applied Economics, Economic History, History of Economic Thought, Economic Methodology and other pertinent economic matters. Scope and policy are further detailed here.

Launched in 1997, REC is published by the Institute of Economics at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (www.ie.ufrj.br). The journal aims to contribute to the academic debate among the various areas of interest in the Economics field.

On account of UFRJ Institute of Economics’ self-criticism and debating tradition, REC wishes to be plural and open to dialogue with the present-day different theoretical tendencies in the expanding frontiers of economic thought. It also focuses on discussing relevant Economic Policy topics whenever the editorials have academic importance. The journal is regarded as an influential vehicle of information amidst the academic journals on economy in Brazil.

REC is published under the Open Access model and is therefore free for anybody to read and download, and to copy and disseminate for educational purposes. No processing and/or publishing fees are charged to authors.

Its abbreviated title is Rev. Econ. Contemp., which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips.
